Getting there & getting about

from_back

Genoch is 16 miles from Ayr and 22 miles from Prestwick International airport with numerous daily flights with Ryanair from London, Stansted. The cottage is two miles from the village of Straiton, and about half a mile up a farm track. We get up and down the track quite easily in a small Toyota Aygo. However, it is rough and stony, and you should drive with care.

Village facilities

There is a co-operatively-run village shop in Straiton (2 miles away) which is open every day.

Straiton also has a café, The Buck, which is open every day during summer months and at weekends in the winter.

There is also a pub, The Black Bull, which serves good food in the evening (not for vegetarians).

Other shopping facilities

Maybole (6 miles away) has a good supermarket which is open every day including Sunday, as well as a variety of local shops, banks, a post office, filling station and library.

Ayr is a sizeable town with two Tesco stores, Morrison’s, Asda, Marks & Spencer.
